If you are looking for a long run or bike trail, this is perfect because it connects to Salem Lake where you can do an additional 7-mile loop! This 5.2-mile greenway starts in Washington Park and takes you all the way to Salem Lake. Feeling adventurous? Rent a kayak for the day and explore the lake from the water. You are bound to see a bunch of turtles sunning themselves on logs in the lake. It is a little hilly at some points, but the shade from the trees is perfect. This trail is great for long walks or runs. Seven miles of mostly shaded walking, biking, and running paths. Although it is not that long, you can walk around Old Salem. This 1.2-mile path connects downtown with Old Salem. We highly recommend going in the fall – the leaves are incredible. It is full of bridges that lead you to the track and tennis courts. It is a great place for sports, playing on the playground, and throwing a frisbee, but it is also great for walking. Go left to take you straight back to the village, and go right for a longer path where you will come across a bridge, ponds, and benches. Follow this path until you end up at a fork. You will see a large field and a path (you will see beekeeping drawers/containers along the path). You are guaranteed to see beautiful views of the city and lots of dogs on the trail! This trail connects with the greenway along Salem Creek and Salem Lake.Įveryone in Winston knows and loves Reynolda Village, but did you know there are walking trails behind the village? Walk past the garden, past the Reynolda house, and keep walking as if you are walking to Graylyn. Drive, through Wake Forest Innovation Quarter, under Business 40, to Salem Creek Greenway. The greenway is flat and easy terrain that is ideal for biking, running, or walking. The 2.7-mile greenway connects the 300-year-old Moravian settlement of Bethabara with nearby neighborhoods and shopping centers. Pro tip – walk around Graylyn when the sun is setting. Walk past the main building to find the mews and bridge. No matter where you look you feel like you are in a charming French Village. Graylyn Estate, a luxury hotel near Reynolda Village, is full of beautiful architecture and gorgeous landscape. Here are some great places to walk or run in Winston. From neighborhoods to long trails, Winston is full of places to explore if you are an outdoor lover. One of our favorite things about Winston-Salem is all the wonderful places to walk.
