7/1/2023 0 Comments Xray diffraction peak tableIf single crystals of sufficient size cannot be obtained, various other X-ray methods can be applied to obtain less detailed information such methods include fiber diffraction, powder diffraction and (if the sample is not crystallized) small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS). Similar diffraction patterns can be produced by scattering electrons or neutrons, and neutron scattering can be similarly interpreted by Fourier transformation. X-ray crystallography is related to several other methods for determining atomic structures. Poor resolution (fuzziness) or even errors may result if the crystals are too small, or not uniform enough in their internal makeup. The two-dimensional images taken at different orientations are converted into a three-dimensional model of the density of electrons within the crystal using the mathematical method of Fourier transforms, combined with chemical data known for the sample. The crystal is illuminated with a finely focused monochromatic beam of X-rays, producing a diffraction pattern of regularly spaced spots known as reflections. The goniometer is used to position the crystal at selected orientations. In a single-crystal X-ray diffraction measurement, a crystal is mounted on a goniometer. X-ray crystal structures can also account for unusual electronic or elastic properties of a material, shed light on chemical interactions and processes, or serve as the basis for designing pharmaceuticals against diseases. X-ray crystallography is still the primary method for characterizing the atomic structure of new materials and in discerning materials that appear similar by other experiments. The method also revealed the structure and function of many biological molecules, including vitamins, drugs, proteins and nucleic acids such as DNA. In its first decades of use, this method determined the size of atoms, the lengths and types of chemical bonds, and the atomic-scale differences among various materials, especially minerals and alloys. Since many materials can form crystals-such as salts, metals, minerals, semiconductors, as well as various inorganic, organic, and biological molecules-X-ray crystallography has been fundamental in the development of many scientific fields. From this electron density, the mean positions of the atoms in the crystal can be determined, as well as their chemical bonds, their crystallographic disorder, and various other information. By measuring the angles and intensities of these diffracted beams, a crystallographer can produce a three-dimensional picture of the density of electrons within the crystal. X-ray crystallography is the experimental science determining the atomic and molecular structure of a crystal, in which the crystalline structure causes a beam of incident X-rays to diffract into many specific directions. 6/30/2023 0 Comments Fire mountain gems $10 offOnly one available.Ĭircle of Hope earring, glass and electro-coated steel, pink and black, 3 inches with witch's hat and fishhook ear wire. As well as impacting concentration and mood, lack of sleep has been linked to a range of conditions such as heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes and even premature death. Not getting enough sleep can seriously affect a person’s health. What can happen if you don’t get enough sleep? Children and teenagers need more sleep than adults, while older people tend to sleep more lightly and for shorter time spans than when they were younger - despite needing the same amount of sleep as they did as young adults. Most adults need about 8 hours of sleep per night. Sleep promotes attention, memory and learning. It allows for growth and healing, and helps control appetite and weight. Sleep is also thought to help keep the immune system strong and the heart and blood vessels healthy. In short, you need sleep so your body and mind can function properly. Scientists don’t fully understand why humans need so much sleep, but it’s believed to help restore the body physically, as well as organise the brain. Babies spend at least half of the time they’re asleep in REM sleep. Adults usually spend about one-fifth of the night in REM sleep and the remaining four-fifths in non-REM sleep. REM sleep happens about every 90 minutes during the night. REM sleep is when most dreaming occurs and is thought to be important for learning and creating new memories. In REM sleep, your eyes move rapidly, your blood pressure and heart rate go up, and your brain becomes very active. During stages 2, 3 and 4, your eye movements stop, your body temperature drops and you are deeply asleep. During stage 1, you are transitioning between being awake and asleep, and wake easily. When you are in non-REM sleep, you go through 4 stages. If this system is disrupted - such as due to shift work or jet lag - you can experience sleep problems. Your body’s circadian rhythm (or, internal biological ‘clock’) control when you feel sleepy and when you’re typically awake. While your body is mostly still, your brain is quite active. When you are asleep, your eyes are closed, most of your muscles are relaxed and your consciousness is practically suspended. Fortunately, there are many things you can do to improve your sleep. Sleeping problems are common, with up to 4 in 10 Australian adults not getting enough good-quality sleep. To avoid having your alarm clock jolt you out of sleep before reaching the light sleep stage, consider going to bed earlier and replacing a noise alarm with a light alarm. You want to make sure your room is as dark as possible because this helps your mind tell your body it’s time to sleep, and following the same bedtime routine every night can help improve sleep quality. Some people find that aromatherapy is also helpful. This means turning off any screens (televisions, tablets, phones), turning the thermostat down, and turning on ambient noise, like a fan or gentle, soothing music to help you sleep restfully. In addition to these sleep suggestions, it’s beneficial to make sure your bedroom gives you the best opportunity for a good night’s sleep. Reduce your dose next time to see if that helps. If you’ve gotten a full night’s sleep (6+ hours), but still feel groggy when you wake, you may be taking too large of a dose of melatonin. The morning after taking melatonin, you should wake up feeling rested, relaxed and invigorated. It’s formulated with an optimal level of melatonin for no next day grogginess,* shown to help support your natural sleep cycle, and a proprietary blend of botanicals, including chamomile and lavender. If you’re looking for a drug free approach, the sleep experts at Vicks also designed ZzzQuil PURE Zzzs Melatonin as a sleep supplement that will help you fall asleep naturally* so you can take on your tomorrow. Both contain diphenhydramine, an antihistamine known to help treat occasional sleeplessness so you can fall asleep in as little as 20 minutes with a non-habit forming sleep-aid. If you suffer from occasional sleeplessness, an over-the-counter sleep medication such as ZzzQuil Liquid or ZzzQuil LiquiCaps can help. A healthy adult requires 7-9 hours of sleep per night, and sleeping less than this can reduce the number of REM sleep cycles. 6/30/2023 0 Comments Map of winston salem restaurantsThe PFR portion was huge! Is this really a deciding factor for designers choosing to upgrade to OS X? Maybe, but it's just one factor out of many. I'd say there we're there already, but it's on the edge of getting better than it was before, instead just about equal. well, you want some kind of solution to be there, and for it be as transparent as possible. That's why FontBook is so welcome - I hope and expect it'll raise the bar for font management apps.īut anyway. apps on OS X can and should be much improved. (Less than people say, though.) And the UI for every one, bar none, of the F.M. And certainly having a true multi-user system and Classic complicate matters. I do agree that until font managements apps on OS X offer features *superior* to their OS 9 versions, you can't honestly say font management on OS X is any better. And both FontAgent and FontReserve go well beyond the much-loved ATM Deluxe in checking for and repairing corrupt fonts. If you haven't used them for some time, definitely check them out - they've improved considerably since their initial versions, and they work well. I was just responding to the statement suggesting there was no decent way to manage fonts on OS X.Īgain, I have to say that Suitcase 10.2 and Font Agent 1.3 are both perfectly good font management solutions. Well, drivers for older but expensive equipment are a whole 'nother (off-topic) issue. That's not even taking into account all the hardware driver issues I also mentioned. Perhaps my exact wording wasn't perfect, but if the solution doesn't work as well in OS X as it does in OS 9, people that deal with a lot of fonts all the time have one less reason to upgrade. The mere existence of a solution that "sort of works" in no way invalidates my statement. You can also get a Windows box for less than a Mac box in most cases, with more expandability and upgradability. Hell, Windows can do most of what a Mac can do if you don't care about the elegance or efficiency or user friendliness. Indeed they "work" to some extent, but if all you are talking about is just that you can indeed get the job done with them without regard to the efficiency or elegance of the solution, than why are we all on a Mac forum discussing this? You can point flaws in each of these solutions - and each has its frustrations - but I've tested all of the above (except for MasterJuggler), and they all work.Īpple polish is all well and good, but implying there's just no way to manage fonts in OS X just isn't true (A week ago, I would have added FontReserve, but Extensis just bought 'em out, so we'll see where that goes.) What about Suitcase? FontAgent? MasterJuggler? FontBook looks completely welcome, but I have to wonder at statements like these. 6/30/2023 0 Comments Slider slicer in excelSlicers allow users to filter the data with a visual selection.Likewise, we can filter data using slicers in Excel. The pivot table shows the summary for the selected region and city. We have filtered the East region from the Region slicer and the ‘New York’ as the City slicer. We can see two slicers for columns Region and City, which help us filter the data for the selected region and city. But, first, let us understand how slicers in Excel work. For instance, consider the following pivot table showing the pricelist of eatables. Once the slicer is selected, we can customize it to change the color, size, and number of columns to show in the slicer, along with many other custom formatting options. However, users must click on the value when filtering from the pivot table or chart. Unlike auto filters, slicers will display the values in their list. Slicers in Excel help us to filter the data from a visual filter for pivot tables, pivot charts, and Excel Table formats. However, Excel introduced a visual filter called Slicer in the 2010 version. You can always ask an expert in the Excel Tech Community or get support in the Answers community.Filtering the data in Excel using an auto filter is one of Excel’s most commonly used tools. To change the style of the timeline, click it to display the Timeline Tools, and then pick the style you want on the Options tab. To change the size of the timeline, click it, and then drag the sizing handles to the size you want. To move the timeline, simply drag it to the location you want. You can also change the timeline style, which may be useful if you have more than one timeline. When a timeline covers your PivotTable data, you can move it to a better location and change its size. Tip: If you want to combine slicers with a timeline to filter the same date field, you can do that by checking the Allow multiple filters per field box in the PivotTable Options dialog box ( PivotTable Tools > Analyze > Options > Totals & Filters tab). To clear a timeline, click the Clear Filter button. Select the Timeline, then on the ribbon, go to Options > Report Connections, and select the PivotTables you want to include. Provided your PivotTables are using the same data source, you can use a single Timeline to filter multiple PivotTables. Use the timespan handles to adjust the date range on either side. In the timespan control, click a period tile and drag to include additional tiles to select the date range you want. With your Timeline in place, you’re ready to filter by a time period in one of four time levels ( years, quarters, months, or days).Ĭlick the arrow next to the time level shown, and pick the one you want.ĭrag the Timeline scroll bar to the time period you want to analyze. In the Insert Timeline dialog box, check the date fields you want, and click OK. Much like a slicer for filtering data, you can insert a Timeline one time, and then keep it with your PivotTable to change the range of time whenever you like.Ĭlick anywhere in a PivotTable to show the PivotTable Tools ribbon group, then click Analyze > Insert Timeline. Click Analyze > Insert Timeline to add one to your worksheet. Instead of adjusting filters to show dates, you can use a PivotTable Timeline-a dynamic filter option that lets you easily filter by date/time, and zoom in on the period you want with a slider control. 6/30/2023 0 Comments Dynamic viscosity si unitsThe temperatures corresponding to each data point are stated explicitly. The values listed in this article are representative estimates only, as they do not account for measurement uncertainties, variability in material definitions, or non-Newtonian behavior. Of all fluids, gases have the lowest viscosities, and thick liquids have the highest. Viscosity is measured using a viscometer. For instance, honey hasĪ much higher viscosity than water. It corresponds roughly to the intuitive notion of a fluid's 'thickness'. In the kinematic measuring method, gravity is the only force that acts on the sample.Dynamic viscosity is a material property which describes the resistance of a fluid to shearing flows. The mass (or weight) of a fluid is determined by gravity. Therefore, we say that steel has a greater density than ice cube. They may be the same size, but the steel cube weighs more than the ice cube. Think about an ice cube and a cube of steel. Dynamic (cP) / Density = Kinematic (cSt)įor a given sample, with a density greater than one, dynamic viscosity will always be the higher number.ĭensity is the ratio of the mass (or weight) of the sample divided by the volume of the sample.Kinematic (cSt) x Density = Dynamic (cP).Density actually provides a way to convert between a kinematic and a dynamic viscosity measurement. The unit of measure of kinematic viscosity is Centistokes (cSt).Ī basic difference between the dynamic and kinematic viscosity measurements is density. The time is converted directly to kinematic viscosity using a calibration constant provided for the specific tube. There are several ways to find the kinematic viscosity of a fluid, but the most common method is determining the time it takes a fluid to flow through a capillary tube. Put another way, kinematic viscosity is the measure of a fluid’s inherent resistance to flow when no external force, except gravity, is acting on it. The other way is to measure the resistive flow of a fluid under the weight of gravity. One way is to measure a fluid’s resistance to flow when an external force is applied. Water at 20 ☌ has a kinematic viscosity of about 1 cSt. Other units are: 1 St ( Stoke) = 1 cm 2/s = 10 −4 m 2/s. The SI unit of the kinematic viscosity is m 2/s. The kinematic viscosity is the ratio between the dynamic viscosity and the density of a fluid. |
